As part of efforts to further extend the reach of its philanthropic efforts, Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on leadership, health, environment, enterprise, and training of development enthusiasts, has released its first podcast series titled ACTPod.

Reflected in the show’s tagline, Our Story, Our Continent, the podcast, which is currently published on Spotify, Google Podcast, Amazon Music, Samsung Podcasts, Podcast Index, Listen Notes, and the foundation’s YouTube page will amplify stories of the African continent.

In a statement by the organization, they launched the podcast to build a community of listeners and provide learning opportunities for development enthusiasts by shifting perspectives through storytelling. As a podcast that sheds light on the stories and impact of the social sector in Africa, the show will also share opportunities, challenges, and strategies changemakers are adopting to transform communities across the continent. “For this reason, the podcast is particularly well suited to niche topics,” it said.

CEO, ACT Foundation, Osayi Alile

Hosted by the foundation’s Director of Programs & Grants, Ndifreke Okwuegbunam, the first episode featured ACT Foundation’s CEO Osayi Alile, who discussed issues surrounding the need for philanthropy and the foundation’s journey over the last five years.

“Yes, we know that the international NGOs have a place; we know that it is important for us to work with countries in diaspora, but we also have to think about what we require as Africans to solve Africa’s challenges,” said Alile.

“We are telling our story for our continent, and we hope that as we tell the story, more people will understand how we have done this and help us take this to the next level,” Alile stressed the importance of the podcast in telling the African non-profit story.

The second episode was on dispelling the myths about nonprofits. In this episode, the Executive Director of the Nigeria Network of NGOs, Oluseyi Babatunde Oyebisi, highlighted the numerous misconceptions surrounding non-profits and how the organization is working to change the narrative.

ACT Foundation recently announced 27 grantees for its 2022 grant cycle across sectors, including health, environment, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
