Bildup AI, an AI-powered learning platform championing a hybrid model of human and artificial intelligence, has raised $400,000 in an oversubscribed angel round from undisclosed investors, surpassing its target and signalling strong investor confidence in its personalised education approach.

As an AI-powered education platform transforming learning in Africa, Bildup AI, based in Nigeria, also offers career mentorship all in one app. The platform also combines AI facilitators, AI academic advisors, and AI career coaches into one AI-powered ecosystem.

With the career coach feature, users can discover their strengths and areas for improvement before learning, and receive a personalised curriculum with the aid of the academic advisor. Users can also engage complex concepts in simple ways with the help of the AI facilitator.

“Our AI-powered ecosystem isn’t just delivering world-class personalised training through AI Facilitators, AI Academic Advisors, and AI Career Coaches; we’re empowering learners to think critically, solve real-world problems, and build with purpose. That’s what the future of learning demands,” says Chibuike Aguene, the CEO of Bildup AI.

Preparing Africa for a future of work

In November 2025, the company launched a ₦15 million national AI challenge for students. Tagged the ‘National AI Career Readiness Challenge,’ the initiative, which comprises fully-funded trainings, targets secondary-school graduates and first-year university students, to teach them to build AI-driven solutions.

According to Bildup AI, the initiative aims to bridge the skills gap between what Nigerian youth learn in school and what the labour market demands. The company’s mission is to prepare Africa for an AI-powered future of work.

“We’re writing our own playbook,” Aguene noted. “In every generation, there are a few startups with a mission that has generational impact, a mission that shapes an industry or creates a new one. Bildup AI is one of those organisations for this generation.”

The company’s general approach to education is sector-agnostic. Beyond tech, it drives higher-quality education across sectors such as agriculture, media, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and more.

“This is not just about tech,” Aguene clarified. “We’re empowering young people across every sector to build the mindset, skills, and clarity to thrive in a world shaped by AI, regardless of their chosen path.”

So far, the company said it has recorded an 80% cost reduction with learning fees and 70% faster learning compared to traditional training centres among its users.

Aguene noted that many learners had previously paid between ₦350,000 and ₦450,000 at tech training centres, yet still struggled with basic concepts in their fields. However, the team observed that after using Bildup AI and enrolling in its ₦50,000 Full Stack Software Engineering programme, these learners were building real projects within weeks and regaining their confidence.

Bildup AI’s physical centre in Enugu merges its online learning platform with in-person mentorship through physical AI learning centres. Through the recent funds raised, the company intends to launch these centres in Abuja and Lagos by early 2026, with other cities in the pipeline. While Bildup AI offers fully online learning options for increased accessibility, these centres will support online learning with a hybrid learning experience that includes hands-on training, physical mentorship, and a fellow community of learners.
