LAGOS, NIGERIA — April 1, 2026
Women in DeFi (WID), a leading platform driving the inclusion and advancement of African women in blockchain and decentralised finance, has announced its annual Women in DeFi Summit 2026, set to take place in Lagos this April.
Under the theme, “Beyond the Bridge: African Women Leading the Future of Web3,” the summit will convene builders, ecosystem leaders, and emerging talent at The Zone Tech Park, Gbagada, on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
As global financial systems continue to evolve toward decentralization, Women in DeFi is positioning African women not just as participants, but as builders, contributors, and decision-makers shaping the future of Web3. The summit reflects a broader shift in narrative, from access to ownership, and highlights the growing role of African women in driving innovation across blockchain and decentralized finance.
“As we think about the future of Web3, the question is no longer whether African women should be included, but how we position them as leaders building solutions for global markets,” said Sarah Idahosa, Founder of Women in DeFi. “This summit is about moving beyond conversations and creating real pathways for women to access opportunities, build sustainably, and contribute meaningfully to the ecosystem.”
Building on the success of the 2025 edition, where 10 women were empowered with laptop scholarships to kickstart their tech journeys, Women in DeFi is proud to announce the return of the Laptop Scholarship Initiative. As part of its ongoing commitment to removing structural barriers to entry, the program continues to support women who are actively building or seeking to build within the Web3 ecosystem but lack the essential tools to scale. By providing high-performance laptops to selected participants, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and enable even more women to transition from learning to earning within the global digital economy.
Founded by Sarah Idahosa, Women in DeFi has grown into a fast-rising organisation focused on equipping African women with the knowledge, skills, and access required to thrive in Web3. Through education, mentorship, and community-led initiatives, the organisation has introduced thousands of women to blockchain technology and decentralized finance, supporting their transition into meaningful roles across the ecosystem.
With the 2026 summit, Women in DeFi is not only convening a community but strengthening its position as a partner for organisations looking to support talent development, financial inclusion, and innovation across emerging markets.
Early bird tickets for the summit are available until April 5, 2026, with general admission priced at ₦7,000 and group tickets (for four attendees) at ₦26,000. For more information visit summit.womenindefi.org
