The dread of scams have trailed online marketplaces for a while now so they are not everyone’s favourite for carrying out transactions but Opiid.com wants to change all that. They want to solve the dilemma of wanting to purchase a product but not finding it legitimately anywhere.
Launched in February, 2014, Opiid is a social e-Commerce platform that connects buyers and sellers in a protected environment where they can own a personalized free online social store, post products, post shop questions (piids), connect to other stores, directly message a merchant, watch product videos, view product search trends, like products, search based on interests, and close transactions while making way higher sales. Basically, it’s like your average social network, but with the added benefits of buying and selling.
Founders and Babcock University graduates, Edom Stanley (CEO), Solaja Oluwagbenga Joseph (CFO/COO) and Owoade Dotun (CTO), built Opiid.com on the principle that individuals and merchants can make far higher sales and purchases in an environment they’re most comfortable in i.e. a social network. The platform has promised to bring merchants closer to the customers and also up their customer service experience by opening up the platform to allow users to ask merchants questions on their products or anything.
