
Google’s Translate app has been integrated with Word lens and its voice translation feature has also been updated.
This was made known in a post by Google Translate’s Product Lead, Barak Turovsky. The Translate app now features Word lens which enables users capture texts with their phone camera and get instant interpretation.
Another improvement to the app has to do with the voice translation feature. The speed of translation of real time conversations is now said to be faster than it previously was. For this feature, you simply need to tap the the mic icon in a selected language and the language will be automatically identified and interpreted to your preferred language.

“This instant translation currently works for translation from English to and from French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, and we’re working to expand to more languages”, stated .
Google is yet to announce a release date for these new features. What is known at the moment is that the update will be available on android and iOS devices.
Word lens along with its development team at Quest Visual was acquired by Google in 2014.
