Nigeria’s main opposition party, APC (All Progressives Congress) has rolled out crowdfunding options to pool campaign finance for the party towards the February general elections in the country.
It is the first time the crowdfunding option is being explored in the political space of the West African Country.
“We want to show that Nigeria is a civilized country where things can be done differently and that change is upon us”, says Babatunde Fashola, the Director of the party’s Campaign Fundraising Team and Governor of Lagos State, “the intention was to democratize campaign funding in the country and to operate a transparent and accountable fundraising and management”.
Voters, now doubling as donors have the options of donating online via a new campaign website apcgmbpyo.org or the four other finance media listed on the website.
