StarTimes, china-based Pay TV provider, has embarked on new satellite television policies by dropping the product and subscription fees for satellite TV viewers in Kenya, according to a report by Techmoran.
The Pay TV operator embarked on this move in a bid to making its services more accessible to viewers. Consequently, the cost of its super, smart and Chinese/Indian bouquets have been reduced including their new product, Nova, a more affordable StarTimes bouquet that will retail at Shs 299.
“The company is keen to ensure that subscribers can afford and access digital television both in urban and rural areas, especially those which currently have a weak or no digital terrestrial signal as the StarTimes satellite now covers 100% of the country”, StarTimes sales Director Mr. Anderson Gichuru said.
The new Satellite television policy reportedly comes with a drop in the full installation price where Kenyans will pay only Shs 2000 to procure a StarTimes and other required appendages.
According to the report, “Subscribers with existing dish kits can now access its services by acquiring a full high definition decoder at Shs 9999 upon subscription to any bouquet for Shs 1500.”
