Every year for the last four years, the Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) has held the annual Kenyan Blog Awards, which seek to reward and recognize exceptional Kenyan bloggers. The awards seek to recognize great and useful content, creativity and innovation in various categories.
BAKE is a community organization that promotes online content creation and free expression in Kenya.
These awards have experienced steady growth since the first edition in 2012. The 2015 edition saw 1800 blogs submitted for consideration, and over 150,000 votes recorded.
The 2016 awards will be the fifth in the series. To submit your blog (or a blog you love) for consideration, visit http://blogawards.co.ke/submit. Thereafter judges will select the top 5 contenders in each category, and these will be presented to the public for voting.
This year sees the introduction of one new category, the Best Religious/Spirituality blog, bringing the total number of categories to 19. Other categories include Creative Writing, Education, Best Food Blog, Best New Blog and Best Photography Blog, along with the overall Blog of the Year Award.
Past winners of the Kenyan Blog Awards include: Mutua Matheka, Silvia Njoki, Wambui Waithaka, Sharon Mundia, Jackson Biko, Sam Wakoba, Dennis Machio and Limo Taboi.
