10. SA-based golf course management startup, Tagmarshal, has raised an undisclosed amount in funding
According to Disrupt Africa, Tagmarshal raised the undisclosed amount in a funding round led by Berlin-based investor Christian Vollmann, with other EU and SA-based investors such as James Espey and Florian Bauer. The startup has also used the money to expand its operations into the United States.

9. Logistics startup, Kobo, says it processed orders worth N857.5 million in 2016
According to Techpoint, the logistics startup recorded a total of N857.5 million in processed orders with a consistent 30% month-on-month revenue.

8. Chop Up studios has released its new street football game, Monkey Post
The game is available on the MTN Game+ platform and they are currently running weekly competitions where players can win up to N5000. The game is exclusive to MTN subscribers and to get started, players are to text “GAME+MPOST” to 2200.

7. Startup Arewa is hosting a tech forum in Benue this January
It will be a gathering of tech leaders, investors, developers and enthusiasts across Northern Nigeria and will feature a hackathon and a boot camp. The event will take place from January 21 – 22, 2017.

6. Kenya-based crowdsourced traffic update startup, Ma3Route, has released a new version of its mobile app
The new version introduces a more user-friendly interface with new features such as improved traffic search where searches are filtered by road name, proximity and time frame. Users can now share contextual traffic updates and visualise live updates on a map as they happen.

5. Agricultural data science firm, Farmlogs, has raised $22 million in a Series C funding round led by Naspers Ventures
Farmlogs uses data science and machine learning to provide farmers with information and recommendations that will help increase their yield and eliminate waste. Naspers Ventures led the investment round with participation from Drive Capital, Huron River Ventures, Hyde Park Venture Partners, SV Angel and Sam Altman.

The Geeks on a Plane Tour is taking place from March 20 – April 2, 2017 and some of the entrepreneurs and tech leaders who will be visiting have been announced. 3. Fintech startup, M-Paya, has launched in Kenya to provide financial solutions to SMEs
Apart from allowing users accept payments, M-Paya also provides various fintech services for small and medium businesses. It has a credit component that provides emergency loans to Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies (SACCOs) in Kenya. Merchants are able to get quick cash advances without collaterals as well as a SmartCash Handling service that turns retail cash deposits into same-day bank deposits.

2. Kenya’s Presidential Digital Talent Programme has graduated its first set of interns
The Presidential Digital Talent Programme was launched in February 2015 to offer employment to more IT graduates and also improve the standards of ICT in the country. Techweez reports that 45 of the 89 graduates had gotten job offers at the time of their graduation and the remaining 44 were offered jobs in the Ministry of ICT.

Ingenico Group has announced the integration of its technology with Interswitch’s switching and processing system. The partnership will allow end-users benefit from next-generation payment technology and a smooth and secure user experience during electronic transactions. Interswitch CEO, Mitchell Elegbe, says the deal will help Interswitch better address market challenges and eliminate the need for cash.
