This is an entirely private election monitoring initiative, and it would be interesting to see how it fares for the Zimbabwean elections, compared to Kenya where the elections earlier this year were tracked by a number of crowdsourced as well as Google supported initiatives, such as the IEBC website (run by Kenya’s independent electoral body), visualisations by Nation Media and of course the SMS-based Uchaguzi.
TechZim gives the impression that the site’s handlers would prefer to remain anonymous. But I checked, and they aren’t so private as to bar anyone from discovering who they are via a public whois request on the electionride.com domain. That’s where the “Code Africa” moniker came from.
