| Nigeria’s Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a test pilot of its electronic results transmission ahead of the 2019 elections. The commission says the electronic results transmission were first tested in 2015 during off-season elections organised by the commission. At the moment, the amended Electoral Act makes no provision for the electronic collation of results hence the inability of the commission to employ this in the actual elections next month. |

| Intelsat South Africa, leader in integrated satellite communications, is now a member of London-based GSMA. Intelsat says the membership will further strengthen integration of satellite and terrestrial technologies and advance 5G deployments. The association unites more than 750 operators with over 350 handset and device makers, software companies, equipment providers, and internet companies. Intelsat and Vodacom Business Nigeria signed a broadband deal last year to deliver fast, high-quality connectivity to enterprise sectors across West Africa. |

Charles Mwangi, Tesla’s former Senior Director of Engineering has announced his decision to leave the company after 6 years. “My time at Tesla has been one of the most enriching and fulfilling experiences in my life,” he wrote in a farewell post. Mwangi who has worked with Toyota and Nissan in the past, alongside a former Tesla colleague will be joining a stealth startup whose venture is yet to be disclosed. Tesla has seen a number of top-level executives leave recently.

| The Explore Data Science Academy (EDSA) has launched an online course aimed at high school learners in grades 10 to 12. The 10-month long programme will be open to learners from February 11. EDSA also plans to host a competition amongst scholars at the end of the programme with cash prizes for outstanding learners.
