CcHub has launched its design lab in Kigali, Rwanda. The space will host product designers, engineers, scientists and stakeholders to explore the application of emerging technologies to solve Africa’s public health, education, governance and private sector challenges, per a press release we received. The presser also said going forward, CcHub plans to spend as much as $11 million on various projects and investments in Rwanda.

South African AI startup Xineoh has raised $1.5 million in a second round of equity funding, per Disrupt Africa. Xineoh previously raised $2 million in 2017 and says it will use this new round of funding to focus on growing its team and building out its tech.

Google-owned balloon internet company Loon has announced the installation of a new set of ground stations in Nyeri, it’s third town after Nairobi and Nakuru, in Kenya. According to Techmoran, Loon, in partnership with Telkom Kenya, will be looking to deploy the service commercially in the coming months.

Africa-focused impact investment firm Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P) has closed its I&P Afrique Entrepreneurs 2 (IPAE 2) fund, Biztechafrica reports. The funds closes at €75 million (~$84.5 million) and investors in it include the IFC, PROPARCO, European Investment Bank, AXA Impact Fund, Société Générale, family offices and foundations. I&P has invested in four African companies so far: food flavour company Afribon, professional training firm Africa Management Initiative (AMI), classifieds startup CoinAfrique and reproductive health clinic PROCRÉA.

Visa has announced that it is expanding its Fintech Fast-Track Program in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. According to Techmoran, the program aims to connect fintech startups to scaling opportunities via Visa’s global network.
