Microsoft has finally announced the launch of its enterprise-grade data centres in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa. Microsoft missed a self-imposed deadline of December 2018 to launch the two azure cloud data centres.

Chinese backed venture capital fund, Shaka VC, last month concluded its sixth deal less than six months since launching. It invested an undisclosed amount in Ugandan logistics company Pinktie. Since it was set up in October the VC has raised $50 million, and invested in four companies in Nigeria and two in Uganda. Ventureburn has more.

According to The Nation (Nigeria), a telecoms infrastructure sharing company in Nigeria, Pan African Towers has struck an infrastructure investment deal worth about $20 million dollars with WATT Renewable Corporation, a Canadian firm that provides hybrid energy. The partnership is to address the energy needs of the telecoms industry in the country.

Subex, a telecom analytics solution provider, has signed a five-year multi-million dollar deal with Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTC), a telecommunications services provider in Botswana, reports ITNewsAfrica. This contract extends the long-standing relationship between both companies that started in 2010.

The Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity (FRP) has announced the names of the five African firms that will get a share of $4,438,551 to support the fund’s financial inclusion agenda on the continent. The fund aims to enable one million underprivileged people in rural Africa to gain access to appropriate savings, credit and insurance products and services. These latest beneficiaries are from Burundi, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, and Zambia.
