The masterclass will support the customized sessions led by CMM and AfricaCommsWeek, which will provide insights into PR and communications fundamentals for early-stage tech startups, including creating a communications plan, corporate storytelling media relations, and more.

“TechCabal is excited to be partnering with C. Moore Media International Public Relations for the second edition of The Future is Female Mentorship Program. As an African woman in tech myself, I know that representation matters, and I am delighted to be a guest speaker during one of the group masterclasses for the mentees” said Koromone Koroye, Managing Editor, TechCabal. “In my role with TechCabal, I am aware of the support, encouragement, and funding African female tech founders need, and I am delighted to be a part of a program supporting these founders from across the continent.”

The inaugural edition of the Program was launched on Africa Day in 2020 when businesses worldwide were reeling from the effects of the global pandemic. CMM’s vision was to create a complimentary program to support the most vulnerable businesses, such as early-stage startups led by African female tech founders.  The Program was complimentary to ensure no entry barriers for any African female founder who wanted to apply. The initiative received incredible feedback from the African tech ecosystem. Just under 140 applications were received from 18 African countries, with 12 finalists selected to participate in the three-month Program.

CMM expanded the Program for 2021 with an increase in the cohort of selected African female founders from 12 to 25 to participate in its second edition. Twenty-five African female-founded tech startups, were recently selected for the Program’s second edition from 180 applications received from 26 different African countries – a 30% increase in the applications received in 2020. The 25 finalists were selected from Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Guinea, Uganda, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Cameroon, Egypt, and Eswatini.

“We’re delighted this Program is receiving global attention, creating more visibility for the selected mentees and their startups. African female tech founders are underserved and often overlooked in the distribution of investments, resources and support, therefore we wanted to support leveraging expertise that we own in PR and communications to help support them in their entrepreneurial journey.” – Claudine Moore MD/Founder, C. Moore Media International Public Relations and Adjunct Professor, New York University. Partnering with TechCabal enables The Future is Female Mentorship Program to provide additional perspectives, tools, and insights for the selected female founders.

CMM’s MD & Founder, Claudine Moore, alongside AfricaCommsWeek’s founders and TechCabal Editors, will lead group masterclass sessions for the selected mentees and participate in Q and A sessions. TechCabal will provide insights into the African tech ecosystem and nuances of being an African female tech founder. In addition, the Program will also provide the 25 selected mentees with insights customized for the unique needs of their business and sector led by CMM mentors.

The Future is Female Mentorship Program is the first PR and communications mentorship program dedicated exclusively to African female tech founders. The Program is complimentary to ensure no entry barriers for any female founder who wants to apply. The Program continues to gain pan-African and global recognition, with Forbes Magazine exclusively announcing the 25 selected female founders.
