The GEMS4 Enterprise Challenge Fund is a £3.5 Million private sector development grant fund for innovative businesses.

“The objective of the Fund is to catalyse private sector investment in innovative, commercially viable, and inclusive business models that result in improved performance of the Wholesale and Retail sector, jobs and improved income opportunities for poor men and women engaged in the sector,” the company said.

The funding window is currently open for innovations with a focus on either Women Economic Empowerment or Off Grid Storage Solutions.

Application for the grant will be in two phases. The first will see applicants submit a concept note outlining the business idea and the second phase will have shortlisted applicants pitch their full commercial business plan.

Successful applicants will then get access to the funds over agreed milestones in the implementation phase.

Application closes by 24th August, 2015. Interested applicants can find further details and register here.
