Global technology company, Intel Africa, world famous for their processors, is giving developers another opportunity to showcase their skills on a larger scale as it hosts the AppCircus Lagos event.
The AppCircus event is a global traveling showcase of the most creative and innovative apps presented by their creators during some of the most influential international events in mobile/web. The Lagos edition will see developers and startups pitch their apps to a jury for the chance to win a trip to the Mobile Premier Awards, which will hold in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress 2016(MWC16).
Intel continues to show their commitment to supporting and partnering with African developers and startups to help them achieve their goals.
In 2013, Intel launched She Will Connect, a digital literacy programme for young women in developing countries. The vision of the program is to reduce the gender gap by 50% and to reach five million women and girls across Africa by 2020.
In March this year, Intel partnered with some other global players to launch an accelerator program focused on startups from or based in Europe, Middle East and Africa – Internet of Things Accelerator.
In April, Intel launched an Education Accelerator to support developers with daring innovation that will define the next generation of education. Selected companies received up to $100,000 from Intel along with access to a private, dedicated suite which comes with all the amenities offered at GSVlabs, mentorship, funding, and insights.
Again, in August, Intel held an event, Intel Developer Day, where the Intel team met with local developers in Nigeria, exposing the Nigerian ecosystem to processes at Intel and how developers could leverage Intel technologies to become better creators. It was a really busy day – the Intel Developer Zone was also launched and a winner emerged in the developer pitch session, Adetunji Adelakun, who received $5,000 worth of marketing from Intel for his software idea.
Recently, Intel began accepting applications from computer science and engineering students of three Nigerian Universities for its Student Partner Program.
And now, the AppCircus pitch event.
Intel is again supporting AppCircus participants around the world, Nigeria inclusive, with up to 16 Air Tickets to fly to Barcelona during MWC16! And to make the most of your stay Intel also gives up to 16 Tickets to the Mobile World Congress 2016!
Participation is a no-brainer for anyone who believes their app can stand with the best of the best on a global scale. The Mobile Premier Awards (MPA) is the biggest app competition and a reference event for early app innovation. Previous winners include apps such as Waze, Layar and Swiftkey.
