It’s finally here! The first edition of Africabeta is happening tomorrow, Saturday October 3. You should know what Africabeta is by now, seeing as it’s all we’ve been talking about for weeks.
Well, everything is set for what is going to be an exciting experience.
With AfricaBeta, we’re hoping to showcase the companies and people who are pushing the frontier and influencing how technology is fusing with the African lifestyle. The first edition, which is powered by WeChat, is tagged Chat 3.0: How Chat Applications will Power the Next Level of Online Commerce.
Recently, we announced the top seeds that emerged from the WeChat ideathon. In all, 10 finalists were seeded from over 80 applicants that participated in the Ideathon.
We’re having some of the brightest minds in the technology industry sharing their perspectives and experiences as it relates to Chat 3.0. They are Etop Ikpe, Co-CEO at Dealdey, who will be discussing hyperlocal possibilities and peer-to-peer commerce; Adia Sowho, the Vice-Chair of the EMEA board at Mobile Ecosystem Forum, who will be speaking on the network’s perspective on the state of messaging; and finally, Amber Fowler, a Partner and Chief of Staff at EchoVC, who will be describing how messaging has transformed business in China.
Our host for the evening will be the award winning journalist and television personality, Lamide Akintobi.
What else do you need to know? You can follow the proceedings of the entire conference either through livestreaming or live-tweets via our twitter account. Real time community updates are also available via Radar.
Did we tell you about the raffle draw? Well, we just did. Guests, those at the hall and anyone else watching via livestream, stand to win fabulous prizes including Samsung Galaxy Note Edge devices. You’ll need to download the WeChat app though to be able to participate.
Pulse, Black House Media, 360 Nobs and Ynaija are Media Partners for the Africabeta conference.
And that’s all folks. See you Saturday!
