Nigeria’s online retailer Jumia Nigeria has today officially unveiled a training school for employees hoping to become future entrepreneurs with their startup ideas to grow the SME-tech industry in Nigeria. The school, Jumia academy, is an opportunity for every Jumia staff to get the skills needed to be successful in the increasingly competitive Nigerian market.

Nicolas Martin, Jumia co-ceo, stated that ‘Jumia Nigeria will continue to grow with the help of the best talents in Nigeria. Jumia employs the largest workforce in the online retail industry, which is growing by the day, and we can only groom our employees to be the next generation of CEOs with excessive training at the Jumia Academy.”

Although, unveiled to the public today, the Jumia Academy launched earlier this month and has already trained about 100 “Jumians” trained for different skill sets. Jumia has over 1000 staff all across Nigeria across various departments and ages.

The Jumia Academy is still an ongoing internal project.
