The winners of the Tech Trailblazers Awards have been announced, with two African Startups nominated as runners-up for the Emerging Markets category of the awards.
The awards saw startups nominated across 12 categories: Big Data, Cloud, Emerging Markets, FinTech, Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile, Networking, Security, Storage, Sustainable IT and Virtualization, and the Firestarter award for startups two years and younger.
The two African Startups named runners-up in the Emerging Markets category are: Kenya’s healthcare IT solution provider, Fortis Innovations, and Nigeria’s home-grown smartphone handset producers, Nerve Mobile.
Shortlisting for the awards were drawn up by a panel of experts, while the public determined the winners by voting.

Founded in 2012, Tech Trailblazers Awards is organised for startups that have been in operation for less than five years and are at C-series funding or below.
