South Korean tech giant, Samsung Electronics will supply the bulk of the chips that will power Apple’s next iPhone.

According to a report on South Korea-based Maeil Business Newspaper, quoting industry sources, Samsung will supply the application processor, A9, for Apple’s next handset model, the iPhone 7, and also be responsible for about 75 percent of the chip production for the smartphone.

Details regarding the value of the contract were not released, nevertheless, report on Reuters claims the chips will be made from Samsung’s Austin, Texas factory.

This partnership may have been impossible a few years back, with several disputes between Apple and Samsung over patent infringement claims. But things apparently seem to have simmered down and collaboration between the two tech companies have grown healthier.

You would be surprised how much of Samsung-produced components reside in your Apple device.
