Three months after the widely publicized Hour of Code event held in Harare, Zimbabwe, the Sheima Muguza led team who engineered the event have come out with the Battle of Code.

In a report, organizers say Battle of Code, unlike the Hour of Code which was only a series of lessons, will take the form a pseudo-hackathon. Participants will be required to solve a series of algorithmic puzzles using game-based source codes.

“There is a multi-level progress requirement and the winner will be the team that gets to the highest or final level within the shortest possible time, or the highest level during a specified time frame”, reports Techzim.

There are no details on rewards accrued to the winners at the event.

Hour of Code, is a worldwide event designed to demystify programming, where tutors and students gather for a one-hour introduction to computer science.

Battle of Code Harare will hold on February 28 at Zimbabwe’s co-working Hub, Hypercube Hub.
