Citi Bank international is inviting applications from tech companies or individuals –in Kenya- to participate in the digital accelerator program tagged ‘Citi Mobile Challenge’, which opened February 23 and will close by March 6.

“We anticipate that the Citi Mobile Challenge will help us to create a truly distinguished experience for our clients while uncovering fresh approaches for broader financial inclusion,” said Jim Cowles, CEO of Citi for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

The competition is an event that invites technology developers to reinvent digital banking and present ideas that will bring about innovations in the financial industry. The competition has been staged in other countries but is scheduled to hold in Jerusalem, Warsaw and London; finalists stand the chance to win a share out of the $100,000 cash awards and an opportunity to explore a commercial relationship with Citi Bank.

Citi Mobile Challenge in EMEA follows highly successful programs in Latin America and the U.S. in 2014. In Latin America, Citi received 150 submissions and hosted 50 finalists at events in Buenos Aires and Bogotá. Citi Mobile Challenge U.S. received 744 submissions from 62 countries and hosted 60 finalists at events in Silicon Valley, New York and Miami. They are currently evaluating several pilots from the top innovations presented at previous Challenges.
