Easy Taxi Pay (ET Pay), a new in-app cashless payment module from Easy Taxi will now allow users pay via debit/credit cards.
According to a release from the Rocket Internet -backed startup, ET Pay lets users import their card details to the platform via which they can pay fares with one-click within the app.
“With this new payment method, customers using Easy Taxi will now have the widest range of payment options available to them from cash, to M-pesa paid directly to the driver, and now credit card / debit cards,” Easy Taxi says
ET Pay can accommodate multiple card details which allows users choose freely from what account to pay from.
Easy Taxi is taking steps to cover all possible hangups with the new feature: “To ensure that all transactions made with Easy Taxi are safe and secure, Easy Taxi is working with Amsterdam based payment services company Adyen, to process the credit and debit transactions.”
The feature is expected to debut in other markets, including Nigeria, in the following months. From a strategic standpoint, this is only imperative in a space welcoming newcomers wielding disruptive ideas i.e Uber.
When it finally debuts in Nigeria, this new feature will edge Easy Taxi’s stake in the rapidly crowding Nigerian e-hailing space.
