The African innovation foundation (AIF) has announced the top seven finalists in its digital art challenge, #AfrinnovChallenge

The seven finalists are: Catherine Mirembe and Allan Musije from Uganda-based Bumba studio, Fatoumata Tioye, Mariona Lloreta, Mbuotidem Johnson, Ismael Mohamadou Djida, Noh Balcha and Ntombi Kunye.

AIF was rather downbeat with the minimal entries the challenge received, even with earlier extension of the applications deadline and a modification of the selection process. The seven top finalists will now contend in a two-week round of public voting on Facebook to emerge as one of the two winners of the challenge.

“Your challenge is to ensure that your preferred designer gets 150 likes,” AIF said in a blogpost announcing the finalists.

The two winners that will emerge after this round will  join innovators from across the continent to attend the innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) 2015 award ceremony in Morocco next May.
