Afrotalez, an app that educates children about African folktales, is set to launch the second episode within this quarter in 2015, according to a report by Disrupt Africa.
The Afrotalez app teaches kids the traditional African folktales, while incorporating the knowledge of basic skills like counting and object recognition.
Developed by Elizabeth Kperrun, the app won the best entertainment app award at the MTN Nigeria App developer contest in 2014.
However, while the first episode of the gaming app was free, Disrupt suggests the developer will monetise through a single in-app purchase per episode.
Kperrun said that, “The apps will be free to download, but at a certain point, the stories will pause and parents will need to make an in-app purchase to proceed in the story.”
The app can be downloaded on Google Play store.
