The Pivot East mobile startup competition, organised by mLab East Africa, a consortium comprising of iHub, eMobilis and the University of Nairobi, has announced the semifinalists for this year’s event.
The competition started on April 1, 2015.
Pivot East is a competition that aims to facilitate discovery and nurture of potential mobile innovations into sustainable business models. The startup Competition called for applications in April from Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
Startups contested in mobile finance, society, utility, enterprise and entertainment.
“It is more than a competition. It’s a holistic platform for mobile startups organizational development and business model refinement,” organizers say. “Judges looked at the startups’ purported customer pain, opportunity and customer segments, the solution and its fit to the problem, the revenue model and analysis of the competitive landscape.”
Some of the semi finalist for the competition include: BitFinance, Eko Biashara, V-Money, Shield, SoftProviders Ltd, KopaLeo, Remit Wallet and SapamaHRM and others (get a full list here).
The finals will hold in Nairobi by July 22, 2015.
