No, not everywhere, just Kenya and in Nigeria. Seven schools in Kenya got free internet access courtesy of Airtel Kenya, and in Nigeria, Vodacom gave a technical school in Yaba free access to the internet and threw in a generating set for good measure. ‘Internet for Schools’

Airtel Kenya has connected seven more school to free internet after linking Kambui’s school for the deaf last week. It’s part of its ‘Internet for Schools’ initiative.

It doesn’t hurt

More free internet doesn’t hurt. Airtel Kenya is doing it, so is Vodacom Nigeria. The telco has provided WiFi services and a generating set to a Lagos’ technical school, the  Federal Science and Technology College (FSTC), Yaba Lagos.

Plugin and Angana are the winners at the the World Bank-supported Negawatt Challenge held in Nairobi. Both teams will proceed to the accelerator phase of the competition.
