Seedstars World, the global pitching competition hosted by the Swiss investment company, Seedstars,  has added one more city to the 12 African cities in which it will host its startup pitch event.

TechCabal reported earlier that the pitch event will hold in Maputo, Cape Town, Lagos, Accra, Abidjan, Dakar, Kigali,Kampala, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam and Gaborone. The organisers have however added Johannesburg to the list of participating cities.

Disrupt Africa first reported the addition earlier today.

“10 of the best startups from all over South Africa will be invited to pitch in front of a local and international Jury in Johannesburg. The 10 startups pitching in Johannesburg will be composed of 5 Startups from Cape Town and 5 from Johannesburg,” Seedstars said on the Johannesburg program description page.

One of the 10 South African finalists will compete with finalists from other  African cities to  earn a chance at winning $1.5 million dollars in equity funding at the Seedstars World competition that will hold in Switzerland next February.

Application deadline for the Johannesburg pitch event is July 3, 2015.

The first pitch event in the pitch series held in Maputo, Mozambique on May 26 with Moovi, a cinema booking startup, emerging the winner. The next pitch event is holding on June 30 in Cape Town, South Africa.
