Kenya’s Strathmore University’s business incubator, @iBizAfrica, will host the Startup weekend Education (SWEDU) event, scheduled to hold on July 1o.

The event will run from July 10 to July 12, 2015, iBizAfrica says on event page on Up global. A report on TechMoran says that this is the first Startup weekend Education (SWEDU) event in Kenya.

The startup weekend is a three-day event aimed at bringing designers, developers, entrepreneurs and experts together to pitch their startup ideas and receive feedbacks from their peers. Startups will be required to design an education tech tool that provides solution for schools or students within the education community.

“Through design thinking, innovative business strategies, relentless hacking and designing, this weekend will produce new ventures that are poised to create high caliber outcomes for local Education entrepreneurs,” the organizers say.

Participants will focus on providing solutions that can take advantage of open education technologies, use education data and technology to measure the impact of education, drive youth empowerment and development via education technology and education initiatives  and use education technology to increase access to quality learning materials.

Prizes include three months of digital support, incubation at @iBizAfrica and listing of the names of the winners on the equity funding platform, investable.
