American financial services company, Western Union, has partnered with mobile telecommunications company, MTN group, for a mobile money transfer service in Rwanda and Ivory Coast.

Earlier today, Western Union and Tigo partnered up to allows Rwandans receive international remittances from Western Union via their Tigo mobile wallets.

The partnership between the Western Union and MTN will serve the same purpose.  According to a Techmoran report, customers of MTN in both countries will be able to receive western union money transfer (WUMT) in their mobile wallet following the deal.

“By expanding our relationship with Western Union in Rwanda and Ivory Coast, we are providing our customers with an easy and reliable option to receive money from family and friends worldwide,” said Serigne Dioum, head of Mobile Financial Services, MTN Group.

Rwandan and Ivorian customers will now be able to receive funds at over 400 Western Union locations in Rwanda and 1,350 Western Union locations in Ivory Coast.
