Near Economy Accelerator (NEA), an initiative of AfriCGE, has begun accepting applications for its accelerator programme aimed at activating local economies South Africa. 

The programme is seeking applications from startups in sectors such as agriculture, recycling, waste management, financial inclusion, renewable energy amongst others according to a report by Disrupt Africa.

“The NEA is targeting scalable business in various sectors such as food, transport, energy, water, transport, and housing and information technology,” NEA stated on its website. “Preference will be given to enterprises that have incorporated the following new economy principles in their business models.”

Applications are opened to startups serving low income sectors with a high social or environmental impact.

The deadline for receiving applications is August 27, 2015.
