French telecom operator, Orange in partnership with HelloAsso, a France-based crowdfunding organization for charity organizations, has announced that it will launch Orange Collecte, a mobile crowdfunding platform in Côte d’Ivoire today.
Orange Collecte will enable users initiate fundraising campaigns. However, Orange Collecte is only accessible to Orange Money customers (an Orange e-wallet) who can initiate the crowdfunding process by dialling #144*8# on a mobile device or via collecte.orange.com
Charity organizations looking to initiate fundraising campaigns must have an Orange Money account dedicated to the charity. Amounts raised will subsequently be transferred to the user’s Orange Money account.
“With this platform, private individuals and charities can finance their personal (weddings, birthdays, etc.) and charitable projects (fundraising, events, projects, etc.) by making an appeal through their mobile network,” the company stated.
Orange Collecte is open to Orange Money customers in Côte d’Ivoire. Donors will be able to make their donations using their Orange Money electronic wallet.
