The Black Friday fever really caught on in Africa this year. Over here in Nigeria, we had a lot of participants, mostly ecommerce websites. That didn’t stop some companies from plugging themselves into the Black Friday vibe.

And when I consider that fact that initially, Black Friday was exclusively a retail store event, you’ll see how far we’ve come. Consider the following players:

Google

Or Alphabet? I don‘t even know anymore. All I know is I saw the company’s Black Friday Deal alert and I nearly fell off my seat. I thought the search engine was finally up for grabs or something. What else do they want to offer at a discount that would be worth anything? Google Glass? Still in limbo.

Apparently, some Nexus(es), Chromebooks and Movies will be on discount all through the weekend. Shrugs….

Well, Friday has come and gone. Next year, you can bet we’ll have even more unlikely players.
