Gokada is shutting down. Temporarily. In a blog post published yesterday, CEO of the motorcycle ride hailing company, Fahim Saleh, narrated a disheartening trip he took on one of his app’s motorbikes which left him deflated about the quality of the company’s current operations. According to him, the company will temporarily halt its activities to launch the Gokada 2.0 initiative which will usher in a new era for the company with brand new “sexy as hell” bikes, properly trained riders who are service driven and able to use navigation tools more accurately and effectively among other things. Saleh also says trips will be a lot safer as riders will be compelled to adhere strictly to traffic laws and ride with Bluetooth-enabled helmets. The initiative will also see improvement in rider treatment with the company promising to take care of vehicle maintenance and health benefits henceforth. |

Save Eritrea, the entire continent is now on board the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) ship and eager to see how this free trade area, now the largest in the world, will spur growth on the continent. With current volumes of intra-African trade very negligible and a narrow range of export options, the road to the success of the agreement is fraught with hurdles which must be addressed if industries like manufacturing are to benefit from its implementation. |
