Several local and international streaming companies have launched their services in Nigeria in recent years. This has led to a proliferation of streaming apps, each offering unique and original content to an audience with an insatiable appetite for news, Nollywood and international content. However, paying for multiple streaming services is becoming as costly as subscribing to a premium pay television service. Due to this, there is a growing interest in free advert-supported television (FAST) apps such as AVO TV.

AVO TV offers live TV and video-on-demand content. It brings together thousands of Nollywood movies, available on-demand, and over 120 channels including AIT, Aljazeera, Bloomberg TV and Channels TV, for viewers to watch for free. No payment or subscription is required.

Pixalate’s January 2023 CTV FAST Apps Report ranked AVO TV sixth globally for all FAST TV apps on Fire TV based on open programmatic ad transactions. In the same month, AVO TV announced that it had hit 2 million downloads since its launch in Nigeria in 2021.

Over the presidential election weekend in February, the app saw its best viewership numbers to-date. It registered over 2 million views and 75,000 hours of content streamed by Nigerians who wanted to keep up-to-date on the election process and results.

AVO TV hopes to continue to grow at this steady pace with the gubernatorial and state assembly elections slated for this weekend, among other informative content on the app.
