Northern Nigeria is set to host its largest tech gathering, the Arewa Tech Fest, a multi State groundbreaking event poised to become one of the most significant technology festivals in Africa. The event, convened by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai CON, former Governor of Kaduna State, will bring together a diverse array of tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and policymakers from across the region and beyond. 

The maiden edition scheduled to take place in Kano from the 25th-26th of September 2024, with the backing of the Kano state government ably led by Gov. Abba Yusuf, Arewa Tech Fest will feature a vibrant lineup of activities including keynote speeches, panel sessions, exhibitions, hackathons, and masterclasses. 

The festival aims to foster innovation, promote tech entrepreneurship, and drive economic development in Northern Nigeria, making it a pivotal platform for showcasing the latest advancements in technology and digital solution. The festival will also feature the launch of the Arewa Tech Fund, aimed at providing financial support and resources to promising tech startups in Northern Nigeria. 

Mal. Nasir El-Rufai CON, the convener of the event, expressed his excitement, stating, “Arewa Tech Fest is a milestone event that highlights the incredible potential of Northern Nigeria in the technology and innovation sectors. Our goal is to inspire and empower the next generation of tech leaders – particularly women and youth, providing them with the tools and resources needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world.” 

The festival will feature prominent speakers including the Executive Governors of Kano and Katsina States, His Royal Highness Sanusi Lamido Sanusi Emir of Kano, Benedict Oramah President of Afriexim Bank, Sumaila Zubairu CEO of Africa Finance Corporation, Amal Hassan Founder Outsource Global and industry leaders who will share their insights on a range of panels, including fintech, tech for good, edutech, amongst others. Additionally, the event will serve as a networking hub, offering participants the opportunity to connect with key stakeholders in the tech ecosystem.
