Code Africa 2025 returns to Nairobi with a dynamic lineup featuring a startup Demo Day, Web3 and AI Hackathon, Africa Emerging Tech Awards, and a powerhouse roster of global speakers.
From May 19–23, 2025, Nairobi will host Code Africa Conference, the continent’s premier technology event uniting developers, founders, investors, and industry leaders at the forefront of innovation. More than a conference, Code Africa is a catalyst for the future of African tech — featuring keynotes, workshops, fireside chats, startup pitching, technical hackathons, and the inaugural Africa Emerging Tech Awards recognising outstanding innovation across the continent.
The rise of technologies like Blockchain, AI, Big Data, and IoT is reshaping industries at a historic pace. Code Africa provides the critical platform where Africa’s top builders, investors, and entrepreneurs converge to spark groundbreaking ideas and drive real impact. This year’s expanded programming introduces the Demo Day Pitching Side Event, offering startup founders the opportunity to pitch live to leading VCs, angel investors and accelerators. For developers, the Hackathon for Web3 and AI will challenge Africa’s best talents to build real-world solutions across decentralised finance, AI infrastructure, and next-generation technologies. Also tech brands and companies will be given the platform to exhibit their latest solutions, products, and innovation to gain visibility in the African tech ecosystem. To celebrate excellence, the conference will also host the first-ever Africa Emerging Tech Awards, honoring the most impactful startups, founders, and projects advancing Africa’s innovation economy.
Among this year’s proud sponsors is Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer globally and a driving force in decentralised finance. Also sponsoring is Stellar, a decentralised, public blockchain that gives developers the tools to create experiences that feel more like cash than crypto. The network is faster, cheaper, and far more energy-efficient than most blockchain-based systems. In addition, Lisk, Vantack, and the Ethereum Support Program are participating as Code Africa sponsors.
Code Africa will also feature a world-class lineup of speakers and thought leaders. Confirmed speakers include Dominic Schweter, COO of Lisk; Redwan, Executive Director at Ethereum Foundation; Moya from IBM; Tim Beiko of the Ethereum Foundation; and Griffins from the Ethereum Foundation. Joining them are Jason Eisen, Founder and CEO of Utu; Daniel Kimotho from Celo; Ayodeji Awosika, Founder of Web3 Bridge; Tony Olendo, Co-founder of ViFi; Harrison Obiefule, Co-lead of Superteam; and Derrick Bundi, Co-founder and CEO of Pretium Finance. Additional high-level speakers will be announced as the event approaches.
Code Africa is a must-attend event for developers, founders, investors, and businesses looking to lead in the next wave of technological innovation. Developers can sharpen their skills in AI, Web3, Big Data, and DevOps, while startup founders will have the chance to showcase their ventures to global investors and industry leaders. Investors will gain access to early-stage deal flow and strategic partnership opportunities. Tech businesses and brands can use the event to launch products, recruit talent, and grow market visibility. Aspiring tech professionals will find mentorship, portfolio-building activities, and career opportunities in Africa’s fastest-growing industries. Tech communities and organisations will also benefit by expanding their networks and deepening their presence in the African tech ecosystem.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural conference in Nairobi—which catalysed breakthrough projects—Code Africa returns with greater momentum, broader participation, and global recognition. As Africa cements its role in the future of global technology, Code Africa stands as the platform where this future is being built.
