Paradigm Initiative Nigeria is recruiting interns to join their policy team to work on developing threats to digital rights and to connect with a global network of Internet policy advocates. This is a paid internship and applicants are expected to be quick learners, capable of understanding and analyzing ICT Policy issues quickly, and to support the organization in the development and execution of these initiatives.
Successful applicants will be partnered with a member of PIN’s policy team, who will provide the guidance and structure that will enable them to make the most of working on one of today’s most pressing socio-economic issues in Nigeria; and they will be assigned to one (or more) of PIN’s key ICT policy areas to gain experience and expertise. Interns will also:
- Be mentored and trained by a member of our policy team
- Research, write, and edit policy briefs and position papers (with your own byline).
- Prepare external and internal advocacy materials and write blog posts
- Attend and contribute to team meetings
To apply, you should have an interest in at least one ICT Policy area and a passion to learn more about technology, human rights and socio-economic opportunities. Preferably, interested candidates should be enrolled in a university (or a recent graduate) of law, political science, international relations or with a technology background; and possess good research, writing and language skills. Paradigm Initiative Nigeria operates flexible working environment, so while interns should ideally work out of the Abuja office, virtual presence is also appreciated and applicants will be considered from locations worldwide.
The internship will span one full academic term [3 months] and interns will be required to put in a Minimum of 30 hours per week. Successful applicants must be available to resume no later than June 2, 2014.
