    Rollpay Africa, in collaboration with Nile Entertainment, successfully hosted the Film Tech Connect Exhibition at Nile Cinemas Ikota, bringing together industry leaders across film, technology, and finance to explore the future of filmtech in Africa.

    The event convened key players, including Moses Babatope (CEO, Nile Group), Eric Kafui Okyerefo (CEO, Rollpay Africa), Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Linda Ikeji, Dr. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Uche Okocha, and Tolu Lord Tanner. Filmmakers such as Biodun Stephen, Judith Audu, Nora Awolowo, and Kayode Kasum were also in attendance, fostering high-level conversations around innovation in the entertainment space.

    A major highlight of the event was the introduction of Rollpay Africa’s platform, designed to streamline payments for cast, crew, and vendors, offering a seamless and efficient solution for managing and paying production teams. The event focused on how technology can be leveraged to address pressing challenges in the African film industry, particularly around managing production payroll and financial management.

    Discussions at the event revolved around leveraging technology to optimize production financing, talent management, legal structures, and content distribution. Speakers included Oluwaseun Lawal (Marketing Manager, Rollpay Africa), Jadesola Campbell (Venture Partner, Talent X), Tope Alake (Founder, Casting Place), Babatunde Lawal (Storyteller), Shawn Buler (CEO, Atunjuwe Entertainment), Nky Ofeimum (Senior Legal Executive, Circuits), Folajimi Alli-Balogun (Assistant Vice President, MBO Capital) and Ololade Oloniyo (Licensing, Innovation & Compliance Lead, Nile Media Entertainment Group). The first panel focused on ‘Navigating the Future: Building Innovative Distribution Solutions for Filmmakers,’ exploring ways to help filmmakers manage production payments, distribute content more effectively, and improve financial management. The second panel, ‘Navigating the Future of FilmTech: Challenges and Solutions for Filmmakers,’ examined the existing challenges in the industry and discussed how technology is being leveraged to address these issues and streamline the filmmaking process.

    Speaking on the importance of investment in the creative space, Jadesola Campbell said, “We help investors find great projects and give creatives access to safe funding. We also help creatives take advantage of new and existing channels through our distribution-as-a-service solutions.”

    Oluwaseun Lawal addressed the challenges of adopting new technology in the industry, stating, “Filmtech is rapidly evolving, and while resistance to change is common among filmmakers, it’s important to embrace innovation. One of our key objectives is to educate filmmakers on adopting new tools that simplify these processes..”
