Introducing Dot Float: Quiet Returns From Idle Funds

Dot’s new capital efficiency product helps fintechs and API partners passively earn on their float, without changing how they operate.

If you run a wallet service, a payment platform, or a fintech product with a payout system, you’re already familiar with the concept of float, the operational balance that helps keep things moving.

But in most cases, that float sits idle.

It doesn’t generate returns. It doesn’t contribute to your bottom line. It simply exists to keep your infrastructure functioning.

At Dot, we’ve been thinking about how to change that.

    Introducing Dot Float

Dot Float is a capital efficiency product that allows Dot API partners to earn interest on their float balances up to 5% per annum without disrupting access, liquidity, or daily operations.

It’s a small but meaningful shift: turning something operational into something productive.

“With Dot Float, your operational funds don’t just sit idle, they generate value,” says Temitope Adeyemo, Managing Director at Dot Microfinance Bank.

    How it Works

Dot Float is integrated directly into Dot’s infrastructure. There are no technical changes required. Once enrolled, your float starts earning.

    • Interest is calculated daily, based on overnight balances
    • Payouts happen monthly or quarterly, depending on preference
    • You maintain full access to your funds, always
    • No changes to your API integration

Whether you’re managing user payouts, wallet top-ups, or a B2B payment system — nothing changes operationally. You just start earning on funds that were previously dormant.

    Why it Matters

Float has traditionally been viewed as a cost of doing business. Necessary, but not profitable. Dot Float reframes that thinking by helping businesses make the most of the resources they already manage.

It’s about improving your capital efficiency, without additional overhead.

    Who It’s For

    Dot Float is designed for:

    • Wallet-based businesses
    • Fintech platforms managing high-volume transactions
    • Payment services that need instant liquidity
    • Any Dot API partner maintaining a consistent float

    Getting Started

Dot Float is now available to existing Dot API partners. To enroll, reach out to partnership@dot.ai or visit businessbanking.dot.ai.

We believe infrastructure should do more than just support your business, it should contribute to it. Dot Float is one step in that direction.
