Globacom is the official partner of Manchester United in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic, whatever that means. Being the “official partner”of a successful football club like Manchester united comes with its perks. Like the ability to serve exclusive content play apps.
To get the app, you have to text ‘LIVE’to 5836 from a Glo line. Glo immediately sends you a download link and N50 is deducted from your airtime. You didn’t think it’d be free did you? The good thing is, you only have to pay once. So even if the download fails, you can restart it at no extra cost.
The app features tons of content including updates, fixtures, logs, breaking news and, as Glo claims, live streaming.

I can’t confirm the live streaming claim until the weekend. However, I did notice a media hub where match highlights and featured videos and exclusive interviews are all displayed for free. Videos are played directly on your phone’s video player, not within the app.
I have no idea how long it takes for highlights of completed matches to appear on the app. I’m guessing, not too long. Whatever the case, the app looks good so far. Add the live streaming to the mix and this could probably be the best digital companion any die hard Manchester united fan could have.
