Nigeria’s online entertainment magazine, Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) has launched ORIN, a music streaming service designed to allow users access exclusive Nigerian and African music content faster.
According to a statement made available to TechCabal, the music service is targeted at the African music listeners, with over 5,000 audio tracks and 1,000 videos already in its library.
“This service has a music and video library with 100% African content,” NET told TechCabal. “In the next 12 months, the audio library is expected to surpass 100,000 tracks as new content and older content in non-digital formats are added.”
The developers say the music service will function as a fully customizable online radio. ORIN also features an inbuilt social media add-on that enables users connect with other listeners and artistes. It combines its content with social functionality and data analytics.
The music service incorporates online and offline streaming modes which permit users to listen to their playlists offline without downloading MP3 files which deprive artistes of royalties. It also incorporates automatic detection of connection speed and assigns streaming bandwidth accordingly
TechCabal featured the ORIN’s iOS app late 2013.
ORIN is available on PC, Android, iOS and Windows Phone platforms
