Jokkolabs, a community of entrepreneurs based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, has opened a new coworking space in Gambia according to a report by DisruptAfrica.
The new space in Banjul, Jokkolabs says, is the first of its kind in the country.
Manager at Jokkolabs Banjul, Therese Mam Kangu Keita said, the group wants “to change the status quo and propel young people into a mindset where they do not wait for the government to solve their unemployment issues. We want to help cultivate a generation not to think as future employees but as future entrepreneurs.”
Jokkolabs was first launched in Dakar, Senegal in 2010, and since then has expanded to Mali, Burkina Faso, France and Benin; with the Cotonou opening in late March 2015.
The branch in Gambia is Jokkolabs’ first entry into an Anglophone country.
