Applications have commenced for startups into the #PitchVinny competition organised by regional ICT networking firm, Silicon Cape, in Cape Town, South Africa.

#PitchVinny is organised for startups to pitch to angel investor, Vinny Lingham, Disrupt Africa reports. Startups stand to win $4,000 in funding. Vinny is a serial investor in African technology startups and an entrepreneur. He is the cofounder of Silicon Cape.

“I’m focusing on the startups that can really become billion dollar businesses,” Vinny said. “If I’m going to take a risk, I might as well bet on high upside companies, even if they have high risk.”

Vinny Lingham co-founded Clicks2Customers, TrafficSynergy, Synthasite/Yola and  Gyft, a virtual gift provider. However, Gyft has been acquired by First Data Corporation.

Applications will close by August 10 and startups that have been selected to pitch will be notified by August 12.
