Yesterday, we received the news that Amazon will now deliver to Nigeria and Kenya, with no third party involvement. They will also handle custom clearances. Customers will be able to track their orders as they arrive.

We headed to Twitter to gather reactions to the story and here are some of them:

This guy was so excited that he tweeted at Amazon

And their Customer Service account replied, thanking him for the shout out. Cool.

Someone had to bring Shakitibobo into the matter

Hallelujah!

Looks like someone has been waiting so long for this, doesn’t it?

And She finds it “interesting”.

Edim says it’s “good news”.

And Ifemidayo has already started telling some people to pack and go.

I, too, was excited. So, I asked what people thought about the news and what it spells for some Nigerian-based eCommerce companies.

I got these responses:

It would be nice to see how things will play out with existing eCommerce players like Jumia, Konga and proxy international eCommerce stores like Mall for Africa.
