The Korean giant recently filed a patent for a new feature that will allow smartphone users unlock their devices with function-specific ‘touch-and-drag’ drawings. The drawn figures must have at least one intersection point, to activate a user predefined lock mode or open specific apps. It doesn’t matter what they look like, as long as there are the right amount of intersections for the corresponding function.

It is not yet clear what advantages this feature proposes over innovations like the Touchless Control on the Moto X, but it is apparent it will have similar impact on battery life, as the screen will have to remain active all the time.
