Uber, an international and tech-centric taxi booking  service based in San Francisco, is giving free rides to South Africans commuting to polling stations during South Africa’s Elections today.

Both new and existing customers in South Africa will be able to grab this offer by using the promo code (VOTESA) to book a taxi with the Uber app. This will grant them access to 2 free rides – valued at RSA 200 each – any time between 7am and 9 pm today, which happens to be the entire time span of the general elections.

Beneficiaries are also encouraged to share their experience on social media using the #UberVoteSA hashtag. According to Uber, this is their way of giving back to the community.

Uber, mobile-centric at its core, prides itself at making it easy and convenient for users to rent luxury rides. Although currently not available in Nigeria, a Lagos and Abuja launch is reportedly in the works.
