While we may never agree on how long it takes to make a “good developer“, here’s how one can progress from the good developer phase to “World Class” in the space of less than 3 years.
Simply put, you can’t become a World Class developer in 3 years or 21 days or whatever headline any of those quicksell books come with. Becoming a World Class developer requires far more time and dedication.
Scientific research has shown that it takes at least 10 years of deliberate practice and continuous self evaluation to become World Class in any field. For further reading, the book Pragmatic Thinking and Learning: Refactor Your Wetware, by Andy Hunt comes highly recommended.
