Jovago will refund the price difference to any customer who finds a cheaper hotel listing than theirs anywhere on the internet, according to an emailed statement.

“Anywhere on the internet” is in tacit reference to Hotels.ng, its strong Nigerian competitor that recently announced that it had crossed the 6,000 hotel signup milestone in December 2014, and achieved profitability.

Jovago’s release notes that there are more than 6,000 hotels on its platform, but “guaranteeing the cheapest hotel prices online” is another card up its sleeve in its bid to claim more share of the online hospitality market in Nigeria.

Guests who book with Jovago and then spot a lower price elsewhere will need to contact customer care, who will process a cash refund of the difference, or match the price if the guest intends to pay on arrival.

There’s a catch though. The release says travellers can take advantage of Jovago’s “Best Price Guarantee” immediately from the time of booking, but only to up to 72 hours before they check in. Just-in-time bookers, beware. This perk requires patience and foresight.
