A new web and mobile based app is poised to revolutionize the Rwandan dairy sector. Gumaho milk app which launched last September is designed to provide dairy farmers with support and inputs needed to grow milk productions. So far, the app has 2000 dairy farms signed-up to its service.

According to Gumaho Group, the designers of the app, it currently helps  farmers use their feature phones to order and get feeds through SMS, book a vet, and soon to perform basic funds transfer.

“We have been able to expand the market of cooperatives by linking them with people who buy milk in huge quantities,” says Walter Rwamucyo, the COO of Gumaho Group Ltd.

In a report on Rwandan NewTimes, banks in Rwanda are said to have started showing interest in the app as a channel to facilitate Agric loans based on the amount of data collected, something RNT says has never been done before.
